The Division of Fire Safety of the New Brunswick Fire Department possesses jurisdiction to enforce the State of New Jersey Uniform Fire Code in all Life Hazard and Non-Life Hazard Use buildings.
The Division of Fire Safety also conducts fire investigations to determine origin and cause of fires that occur within the City of New Brunswick. This Division also conducts SMOKE DETECTOR and CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM compliance inspections on all one and two family homes for sale or lease in the City. Additionally, the Division also participates in the Middlesex County Juvenile Fire Setter Program, available to all children that reside in the City of New Brunswick.
